My name is David. Just trying to live a healthy life. I post shit that I think is awesome, whatever that may be...

Feelin good

Ever since I hurt my knee (I think it’s runner’s knee, self diagnosed ha), I’ve actually gained this renewed focus on my lifting, and I’m loving it!

I haven’t been able to do legs at all this week, (hopefully will be able to start next week or the week after). but I’ve been hitting everything else hard as FUARK. I hit shoulders today harder than I ever have before.

I’m really thinking I will try and take advantage of this renewed focus, and see what I can do with it. I really want to get my diet under control. I feel if I can dial that in, then I will see awesome gains. I’ve also tweaked my schedule a little, which is giving me a little extra time in the gym on some days, and allowing me to hit cardio on some other days.

My ultimate goal is to be able to compete one day. But I need to take baby steps in order to achieve that goal. And it starts now.

When I go to the store this weekend, I’m really going to concentrate preparing my meals for the entire week. Let’s see how this goes.

So… I found my new favorite snack. MHP PowerPak Pudding. It is SO good. Has 30g of protein, very little carbs, and 0 sugar. Only 200 calories too.
I highly recommend this!

Educate yourself as far as what a calorie is. 1g of protein is equal to 4 calories, 1g of carbs is equal to 4 calories, and 1g of fat is equal to 9 calories. Know that. So read your label. If things don’t add up, realize that there is filler in there, stay away from it.

These guys eat things that they enjoy like Ben & Jerry’s, cheesecakes, pringles, pizza, doughnuts, poptarts, etc. as long as it is in moderation. Small amounts on infrequent occasions. Well, that’s speaking for most.. some even smash a pint of Ben & Jerry’s daily.

Outside of those pictures I have posted there are countless other natural professional bodybuilders, athletes, nutritionists, bloggers, powerlifters and normal people that follow a moderate diet, are completely healthy and have great physiques coupled with great results.

You can eat things that you enjoy in moderation and be as healthy as anyone else. In fact, I would go ahead and say you are healthier due to the reason that you are mentally in a better place for having a good relationship with food. You understand how to make it work for you and enjoy it instead of making it the enemy.

Read The Dirt on Clean Eating by Alan Aragon for further explanation of a moderate diet.

Paula Deen is expected to reveal she has diabetes.

aweightymatter:

Totally unsurprising, but not funny. It’s actually really sad! Just goes to show that the health risks of eating a low-nutrient diet and staying very overweight are very, very real. Avoiding disease — of which there is plenty in my family history — is my number-one motivation for eating right and trying to stay at a healthy weight.

I wonder if she will change her show, her cooking methods, her whole m.o.?

Unfortunately, it seems for now she is just signed on to become the spokesperson for a large pharmaceutical company instead. How about using her platform to spread a message of prevention rather than costly drug maintenance?
